Catholic Parish of Prague Stodůlky
The Roman Catholic parish of Prague Stodůlky is situated in an area of ancient villages, housing estates with their characteristic high-rise concrete buildings as well as modern business and residential quarters. The diversity of the place is all the more apparent when it comes to people, the parishioners themselves. The Stodůlky parish is a living community where the wisdom of old age is meets youthful enthusiasm. That is well reflected in the two parish churches: the Church of St. James the Greater (Sv. Jakuba Staršího) is a symbol of tradition in the parish. It provides a stable setting and reminds us of the unwavering nature of Christian faith in God and Jesus Christ. The church of St Procope (Sv. Prokopa) with adjacent community centre near Hůrka underground station stands for openness of the church and its readiness to embrace the people of today.
Living in the suburb of Prague is far from living in the margins. Rather, it is about living among people who are close to one another in pursuing the same aim, their journey to the good Lord.
